All of us who have a website or just intend to build one heard of importance of using key words. We have been bombarded from multiple sources that we must stuff our content with relevant keywords and use them in a key words meta tag while optimizing for search engines. Is it a true? Not so much. I know that I would probably upset those who make a living on doing " extensive key-word research" for websites (and I fell into this trap myself at some point), but key words are completely irrelevant for Google. Yes, Bing and Yahoo still pay some attention to key words, but key words time is running out.
The truth is that key words were important years ago, but they were so abused that Google completely eliminated them from how they rank a website. Ok, you will ask if key words are not important any more, then what is important for SEO, what should I do to my website to make it appear on a front page of Google and other search engines? Just to answer briefly to this question, here are the key criteria for SEO:
1. Good user friendly design
2. Good technical development of a site
3. Relevant, unique content
4. Link building with reputable sites
We will be giving series of webinars to cover these criteria in details, but for now, my expert advice would be to the business owners not to spend money and time to search for "magic" key words, but pay more attention on a structure, design, technical development and content of a website.
